Gopinath, the beloved of the Gopis of Vraja

graphic footer

Complexioned as a dark monsoon cloud

With yellow garments, as brilliant as lightening

Playing his divine enchanting flute aloud

Stands Gopinath, the beloved of the Gopis of Vraja

With dancing eyebrows and lotus petal eyes

Soft lips, the colour of bandhuka flowers

Seeing whom every maiden of vraja, in joy, sighs

Stands Gopinath, the beloved of the Gopis of vraja

Donning a forest flower Garland down to his knees

Armlets, braclets and anklets of surreal beauty

And above his lotus navel, a hairline of intoxicated bees

Stands Gopinath, the beloved of the Gopis of vraja

Curly hair gracefully falling down his shoulders

Brilliant turban adorned with a peacock feather

Atop Giri govardhan’s magnificent boulders

Stands Gopinath, the beloved of the Gopis of vraja

Smiling sweetly, with a mischievous look

Attracting the minds of all his devotees

With Srimati Radhika at the bank of a brook

Stands Gopinath, the beloved of the Gopis of vraja
