Once there lived a simple and nice devotee brahmana in a village, who lived happily with his family in a small house worshiping Krishna every day. Every night he used to have a very special dream, in which he would see two pairs of footprints on the path. One pair of footprints were his own and the other pair of footprints were Krishna’s. Every morning he would wake up and remember Krishna and the dream and he knew that he was never alone in his life. Krishna was always there with him and there were always going to be two footprints.Having full faith in Krishna, he continued to worship the deities and Chant Hare Krishna and lived happily with his family in the Village.

One day, he lost everything that he possessed. He became poverty stricken and no one wanted to help him. He lost his house and all his family members also left him. He lost all hope and was very sad when he fell asleep and again had the dream that he had every night. But that night in his dream he saw only one pair of footprints, while the other pair was missing. Waking up from the dream, he started crying profusely, thinking  that even Krishna had left him alone in his difficult time. Now, he was completely heartbroken and felt that he had no shelter whatsoever. He remembered Krishna and prayed to him, asking him why he had left him alone. While feeling destitute in this way, after some time he again fell asleep, and he had the same dream in which there was only one pair of footprints. But this time he saw in his dream, that the one pair of footprints were not his but Krishna’s. Krishna had lifted him in his arms and was carrying him.Krishna said to him, “ My dear Brahmana, I never leave my devotees, I am always with them. You were so sad that you yourself had lost all hope, so that is why i lifted you in my arms, because I always take care of my devotees.”The next morning, when the Brahmana woke up, he started dancing and singing. He was so happy to see Krishna in his dream and his faith became very strong that Krishna never leaves his devotees. And from that day onwards, he happily lived his life always chanting and remembering Krishna and he never again became sad in his life because he knew that Krishna is always there with his devotees.
