There are innumerable manifestations of the Personality of Godhead in the form of the various incarnations and Vishnu forms, presiding over the various Vaikuntha Planets, but the Supreme among them all, and the source of all these multitude of manifestation is Vrajendranandan Shyamsundar. Even though these incarnations are direct manifestation of Sri Krishna himself, endowed with the six opulences of wealth, strength, fame, beauty, knowledge and renunciation, and possess sixty transcendental qualities that are only present in the Personality of Godhead and not in any other Demigod or Demigoddess, yet there are four qualities that are uniquely present in Sri Krishna only. These four qualities have been described by Srila Rupa goswami in Sri Bhakti Rasamrita Sindhu and are as follows:
Lila Madhuri – He is an undulating ocean of astonishing pastimes out of which raas leela is supremely captivating.
Prem Madhuri – He is surrounded by devotees who possess incomparable madhura-prema, which develops up to the stage of mahabhava. Venu-madhuri – The sweet and mellow sound of His flute attracts the minds of everyone within the three worlds. Rupa-madhuri – His extraordinary beauty astonishes all moving and non-moving entities.
Even though the pastimes of the Vishnu murtis in the various Vaikuntha planets are transcendental and complete, they are all predominated with Aishwarya bhava, due to which the love of all the associates present there is tinged with awe and reverence, for they are well aware that Vishnu is the Supreme Personlaity of Godhead. This, however, does not give the highest pleasure to the Lord, but rather he relishes the love of the Vrajavasis, which is full of Madhurya bhava, transcendental sweetness, due to which they forget about Krishna being the Supreme Lord and love him just as their friend, son or beloved. Due to the predominance of this sweetness, the pastimes performed in Vraja are far more enchanting and captivating for the heart of the devotees than the pastimes that are in Aishwarya rasa. It is due to this sweetness that Krishna displays these four transcendental qualities in Vraja and not anywhere else. The comparison can be made that Vishnu in the Vaikuntha planets is like the Supreme Lord in his office, but in Vraja, he is at home, surrounded by his friends and family, his dear associates, who are dearer to him than his very self. That abode of Vraja, where the Original Personlaity of Godhead Sri Krishna is present in his complete glory surrounded by his dear associates, is the personification of sweetness and the ultimate goal of all the vaishnavas, whose sole treasure are the soft sweet sublime lotus feet of Sri Shyamsundar.
