All glories to Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Lord Nityananda, who came in this Kali yuga to deliver the fallen jivas by spreading the Yuga dharma, Naam Sankirtan, the Chanting of the holy names of the Lord. All glories to our Guru Parampara, Srila Prabhupad and to our spiritual masters for having given this all purifying holy names of the Lord to us struggling living entities entangled in the net of this material existence. They have given us the simple way out of this deep dark well in the form of Harinam Sankirtan. Following the instructions of the spiritual master who is the direct representative of Krishna and invested with Krishna’s mercy, the disciple chants his rounds everyday without fail. Despite this endeavour by the devotee and the mercy which flows towards us from every direction, why is it that we have not yet become completely purified and spiritually situated? Upon careful contemplation on this subject matter, it can be easily understood that we are unable to make rapid advancement in our spiritual lives because of Aparadha which we commit while chanting the holy names and throughout our daily lives. Of all the Aparadhas the most severe aparadh is Vaishnava Aparadha because the Lord says that he can forgive an Offence committed towards him but offences committed towards his pure devotees are unforgivable by him. Only the vaishnavas themselves can forgive us for our Offences. Without the mercy of the devotees it is impossible for us to make advancement in spiritual life. Therefore, realising the importance of giving due respect to the vaishnavas, we should, from the depths of our hearts, ask for forgiveness from all the vaishnavas that we may have offended knowingly or unknowingly, for without receiving the mercy of the vaishnavas we cannot make spiritual progress and all the mercy that is flowing towards us is blocked due to our offences. Taking a humble a position, considering oneself lower than the grass in the street, giving all respect to others and not expecting any respect in return, when one constantly chants the Holy names of the Lords with such pureheartedness, one is sure to attain the highest perfection of life, namely Krishna prem. This has been instructed by Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu himself in the Sri Shikshashtakam:
tṛṇād api sunīcena
taror api sahiṣṇunā
amāninā mānadena
kīrtanīyaḥ sadā hariḥ
One can chant the holy name of the Lord in a humble state of mind, thinking himself lower than the straw in the street. One should be more tolerant than the tree, devoid of all sense of false prestige and ready to offer all respects to others. In such a state of mind one can chant the holy name of the Lord constantly.
