The temple is open
It is with great delight that we inform the devotees that the temple is open once again for public darsanas. Even though the second lockdown was not as long as the first, it was, nonetheless, challenging, as once again, everyone was bereft of the direct darsana of our Lordships, Sri Sri Gaura Nitai, Sri Sri Krsna Balarama and Sri Sri Radha Syamsundara. Now again the temple is open to one and all to come and participate in the programs, join in the kirtanas, and absorb the divine atmosphere. It is still advisable, however, to wear face masks, maintain social distancing and take care of personal hygiene, both for the benefit of one’s own safety and that of others as well.
Despite the summer heat, the temple is again seeing many visitors, . indicating how much everyone was eagerly awaiting for it to open.
The Lords, served with great love and devotion by all the devotees, mercifully bestow Their loving glance upon all visitors, enriching their spiritual lives by increasing their spiritual merit (sukrti). Decorated profusely with fragrant flowers and bearing a sweet smile, Their Lordships enchant the hearts of Their devotees, who are always desirous of Their darsana.
The oasis of kirtana
The melodious temple kirtanas inspire everyone – resident devotees and newcomers, alike – to sing the holy names of the Lord and dance in bliss. Such kirtanas are the only true treasure in this age of Kali. Kirtana, anywhere in the world, provides a transcendental oasis in the midst of the desert of material existence. Uttering the ever fresh and relishable holy names of the Lord is the yuga-dharma, the spiritual practice for this age of Kali, for they establish us in our constitutional position as the Lord’s servant.
In Iskcon Vrindavan, the holy names are chanted in the temple continuously, twenty-four hours a day. Regular evening kirtanas are also held in Srila Prabhupada’s samadhi and occasionally, in the late evening, there is a kirtana program in Srila Prabhupada’s house, led by Madhava Prabhu. We invite one and all to join any of these wonderful kirtans.
Srila Prabhupda’s unique rooms
Who can express the sublime experience of chanting japa before Srila Prabhupada in his quarters, under his watchful gaze?
His rooms here are unique, as they showcase his extraordinary gifts to mankind – translations of literatures that are integral to understanding the movement of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu – not only in English and Hindi but in every language of the world. The bookshelves also display titles coming from transcriptions of his darsanas and classes.
The rooms also exhibit the various articles Srila Prabhupada used, from medicine to old typewriters. All are carefully preserved in his quarters and make his presence their easily perceivable. His peaceful garden and the soft sound of the water fountain are natural stimuli for meditative japa. All devotees visiting Vraja must certainly come and chant japa in Srila Prabhupada’s house, and actually feel the presence of Srila Prabhupada. The pure devotees are always present to give their blessings and guidance to sincere souls endeavoring to develop their Krsna Consciousness.
The guesthouse was built in the 1970s, before Srila Prabhupada left this world. You can choose to take prasad in Govinda’s Restaurant or with the rest of the devotees in the Krsna Hall, where hot, simple yet delicious Krishna prasad is served.
The Guesthouse gift shops contain all varieties of items conducive to the practice of bhakti: Elsewhere in the temple compound are stores selling Srila Prabhupada’s books; a maha-prasada stall, and a photo stall selling laminated pictures of our Lordships.
The Bhaktivedanta Gaushalla tenderly cares for over 300 cows and bulls. The cows are peaceful and love being cuddled and fed special cow laddus. . Being with the cows and serving them can’t help but bring tranquility and if fortunate, remembrance of Krsna.
Please come if you can
A visit to Vrindavan is like a soothing balm to an aching heart, a heavy downpour after a forest fire, and a sumptuous feast after a long fast. We invite all who are able to come for darsana of beautiful, transcendental Sri Vrndavana-dhama.
