In the age of Kali, intelligent persons perform congregational chanting to worship the incarnation of Godhead who constantly sings the names of Krishna. Although His complexion is not blackish, He is Krishna Himself. He is accompanied by His associates, servants, weapons and confidential companions.

This verse from Srimad Bhagwatam, the ripened fruit of the Vedic literatures, is beautifully glorifying the golden avatar of this age of Kali, Sri Sachinandan Gaurahari, who is Sri Krishna himself, endowed with the lustre and mood Srimati Radhika, and who appeared in the form of a devotee to establish the Yuga dharma of the chanting of his own Holy names. Although he is akrishna, not black but rather golden, he is actually Krishna on the inside, and he appeared in Sridham Navadwip along with his angas(parts or associates, namely Sri Nityananda Prabhu and Sri Adwaita Acharya), his upangas(parts of the parts, or Servitors, namely Srivas Pandit and the other gaudiya Vaishnavas), and his parshadas(confidential companions like Gadadhar pandit, Swaroop Damodar and Ray Ramananda). He descended to this earthly planet to preach and propagate the Sankirtan movement, the chanting of the Holy names of the Lord, which is the Yuga dharma and the only means of deliverance in this age of Kali. In order to bestow mercy upon all the living entities, Sri Gaurahari travelled through out India with his associates and spread the Sankirtan Yajna. There are various processes prescribed for spiritual progress in the different Yugas, in Satya Yuga, one had to perform sever austerities for thousands of years; in Treta Yuga, one had to perform elaborate fire sacrifices; and in Dwapar Yuga, one had to perform opulent deity worship in accordance; but in the age of Kali, the simple process of chanting the holy names of the Lord is the means of achieving the highest destination of going back home back to Godhead, which was difficult to achieve in any of the other Yugas. Therefore, in order to direct the people of the world to take to the process of Bhakti, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu appeared in this world. The Lord himself states in the Gita that he appears millennium after millennium to destroy the miscreants and to re-establish Dharma, but unlike his usual incarnations, in which he appears with his weapons and destroys the demons, in this form of Gauranga, his army are his associates and his weapon is the chanting of the holy names, which completely destroys all the ill effects of this age of Kali. Therefore, the intelligent people are the ones who take complete shelter of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, as stated in this verse, yajanti hi su-medhasaḥ.
